Samuel Espinoza, LCSW

I graduated from University of Southern California School of Social Work in the year 2000, however, my career started in 1991 when I began working at Corbin Community Center as a Case Manager in Santa Ana, California. While there I learned some of my most difficult lessons and realized my need for further education. I was faced with a dilemma one day during the summer of 1992 when I received a phone call from a woman who had just been involved in a domestic violence situation. She needed help but I had no idea how to help her. I then decided to look for ways to help victims of domestic violence.

My desire to help people who are in need was stimulated by my eighth-grade teacher. She helped me cope with depression and enabled me to raise my grades. During high school, I wanted to help other students who were having difficulty academically and emotionally. I worked at Corbin Community Center while attending community college and two years later I transferred to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I began my Master’s Degree in Social Work three years later.

I have worked mainly in the non-profit sector. I started working with school aged children, teens, and their families in Santa Ana. Later I began working with foster children in Los Angeles. My work with these children and their families lead me to learn more about domestic violence and the trauma experienced by children in a domestic violence environment. I subsequently began to instruct foster parents to enable them to improve their ability to work with children through my work with the County of Orange.

I opened my private practice in 2016, while working full time. I have been able to assist in decreasing child abuse and domestic violence by teaching parents alternative ways of parenting their children. I have also taught adults skills that will enable them to prevent domestic violence. I provide a safe haven for my clients to enable them to express themselves and facilitate their ability to talk about their emotional distress. I have helped my clients deal with anger management, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss and grief, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Children, domestic violence and bullying.
